Egg Roll Ingredients

 

The following are the ingredients  used in making of egg roll

  • 10 whole eggs room temperature

  • 4½ cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup white sugar

  • 1 teaspoon mixed ground spices nutmeg & cinnamon

  • Pinch of salt 

  • 1 tea spoon paprika

  • 4 tablespoons margarine or butter

  • 1 teaspoon of yeast

  • 1 cup lukewarm water 

  • White pepper

  • Evaporated milk 

  • 1 tea spoon of granulated garlic

  • Vegetable oil for deep frying.

Egg Roll Preparation.

 

The following list below are the step by step guide on how you can prepare your egg roll.

  • Step1: you are to boil the egg until it is hard boiled.remove and set the(unpeeled) boiled egg aside.

  • Step 2: sift your flour, sugar, salt and spices.

  • Step 3: pour warm water in a bowl and add your yeast inside then leave it for about 3 to 4 minutes. After that, add sugar, milk and salt to it.

  • Step 4: mix paprika, powered garlic and white pepper manually or with a whisk and add chunks of butter.

  • Step 5: put your flour in a big bowl, create a space in the middle of the flour and add the mixture in the step 4 above.

  • Step 6: Start kneading the dough while you gently add the mixture in step 3 above.



  • Step 7: Knead until a smooth, non-sticky elastic dough is gotten.leave it for about 5 to 10 minutes to make it smoother.


Note: your hands  need to be coated with flour before you begin the step 7 above.


  • Step 8: Dust a flat work surface with flour (probably your chopping board if it is wide enough) and turn out your smooth dough onto the surface.

  • Step 9:Use your rolling pin and begin flattening out your dough until it is about 1cm thick.

  • Step 10: Divide the dough into 10 equal circles (that is the number of eggs that we boiled).

  • Step 11: peel the eggs and placed them in the center of the cut dough then wrap the dough around the eggs and make sure that there are no openings or even cracks.

  • Step 12: cover the 10 rolls for 20 minutes.

  • Step 13: Pour your vegetable oil into the iron pot and heat at medium heat until it is hot but not smoking.

  • Step 14: Gently drop as much rolls as your iron pot can carry and fry for 5 to 8 minutes. Watch until it is  golden brown and crunchy on the outside.

Note : Avoid over crowding the iron pot with rolls to prevent soggy roll.

  • Step 15: Remove the egg rolls with your perforated spoon and placed them on the paper towels to absorb the oil.

 Your egg roll is ready to be served. You can take it with tea, zobo or chilled drinks.
